We have shipped axolotls, plants and other animals to states all across the U.S. and use the best possible practices to ensure the safety of your new pet. Axolotls and other animals will be shipped either in breather bags, which allow for the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide, or in a standard bag with 1/3 water and 2/3 air. We also move animals to clean water and fast them for 24-48 hours to clear their system for safe shipping. The boxes will be insulated with foam, paper and packing peanuts to eliminate as much jostling and temperature fluctuation as possible. We include temperature control (either ice packs or heating packs) when necessary to keep the animals safe. We have recently switched to FedEx for shipping, after USPS was negligent with a few packages. We use FedEx Overnight, and ship on Tuesdays so they arrive Wednesdays. However, our packing procedures will keep animals safe for three to four days if absolutely necessary. If you would like a more affordable option, you can choose 2-Day shipping, but we do not guarantee the live arrival of those animals. You can save some money on shipping, but it is the less safe option for the axolotls.

In the unlikely event that something happens with Overnight Shipping and your animal does not arrive alive, or does not arrive at all, there are a couple options.

We will refund the cost of the animal (excluding shipping) if you do not want a replacement.

We will replace the animals and send it to you, and we will cover the shipping.

If for some reason there is a second problem on the same order, we will refund you the cost of the animal.
For any refund or replacement, you need to contact us within four hours of delivery with photos showing the damage to your package/animal. We keep an eye on tracking so we will be able to confirm when a package is late or lost. If you will not be home when a package arrives, you can request that we have the animal held at the nearest FedEx Facility for Pickup.
If you chose 2-Day Shipping, and something went wrong, still reach out to us! We do want to work with you and we may be able to offer some refund or replacement. These are determined on a case by case basis. Unfortunately, we will not be able to guarantee live arrival if the address we get is incorrect, or if no one is there to receive the package. If you would prefer to use another shipping method (like USPS) we will accomodate those requests but we cannot guarantee live arrival. You will receive a tracking number in your email and are responsible for receiving and unpacking the animal in a timely manner.
